Due to the ongoing severe cold wave, all schools in Ghaziabad for students in classes 1 to 8 will be closed from January 6 to January 11.

In light of the severe cold wave sweeping through the region, all schools in Ghaziabad for students in classes 1 to 8 will remain closed from January 6 to January 11. The decision was made by the district administration to protect students from extreme weather conditions.

“In view of the extreme cold, following the instructions given by the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, all government and private schools, including Inter Colleges (both government and non-government, unaided, and aided schools) affiliated with UP, CBSE, ICSE, and other boards in Ghaziabad district will remain completely closed from January 6, 2025, to January 11, 2025. Additionally, classes for students in grade 9 and above will not be conducted before 9:00 AM,” said Dr Dharmendra Sharma, District Inspector of Schools in a notice.

“The Principals/Headmasters of all government and private schools, including Inter Colleges, affiliated with UP, CBSE, ICSE, and other boards, are instructed to strictly ensure compliance with this order,” the DIOS added.

Several cities in Uttar Pradesh, including the state capital, are experiencing lower daytime temperatures due to overcast skies and fog caused by moisture from the Arabian Sea. The weather in the state has been dry, with some areas feeling cold during the day, while a few spots are experiencing very cold temperatures.

In Jharkhand, the government has announced that schools for students from kindergarten to Class 8 will be closed from January 7 to 13 because of the ongoing cold wave. A notice issued by the School Education and Literacy Department on Saturday confirmed that all schools, including government, private, and minority institutions, will remain closed due to the cold weather.

In Patna, all government and private schools for up to class 8 remained closed today, January 1, 2026.

Bihar is currently facing a cold wave, with many areas recording minimum temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius or lower, according to the Met office on Sunday.

Due to the severe cold, the Patna district administration has ordered all government and private schools up to class 8 to remain closed until January 11.
