The conversation around Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola’s separation has taken a fresh turn after actor Anuj Sachdeva said Gaurav was unaware that Akanksha would speak publicly about their marriage on Lock Up: Sach Ya Sazaa.
In an interview with entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani, Anuj said the revelation came as a surprise to him as well. According to him, he was not aware that the couple had been living separately for several months. “I did not know that Gaurav and Akanksha were not staying together since the last 9 months,” Anuj said.
He added that he spoke to Gaurav after the episode aired and claimed the Anupama country actor had not been informed about Akanksha’s decision to make their separation public. “Gaurav was completely unaware that Akanksha is going to go public about the current status of their marriage in Lid Up,” he said.
Anuj said Gaurav had chosen not to discuss his personal life despite the attention around the separation. “And yes, I must say that Gaurav is not washing his dirty linen in public,” said the actor.
Reacting to Akanksha’s statement on the reality show that she now wants to ‘explore life’Anuj rejected any suggestion that she had been held back during the marriage. “Not at all. Gaurav really loved her a lot and gave her all that she wanted,” he said.
Towards the end of the conversation, Anuj questioned the timing of Akanksha’s disclosure. “So far, Akanksha had never gone public about this. I wonder if she’s doing it to increase the eyeballs on the show,” he said.
Akanksha recently confirmed on Lock Up: Sach Ya Sazaa that she and Gaurav are heading for divorce after living separately for nearly a year. She said the decision was mutual and that they gradually realised they wanted different things from life. She also revealed that their differing views on having children played a significant role in their decision to part ways.
