According to the police, Siya and Chetan met at a café on June 18 shortly before the crime and discussed the final details of their plan.
As the investigation into the Ketan Agarwal murder case gathers pace, fresh details have emerged about the relationship between murder accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, as well as the alleged conspiracy that led to the Pune businessman’s death.
Siya and Chetan are currently in judicial custody until June 29 for allegedly pushing Ketan Agarwal into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Initially, Siya told police that Ketan slipped while he was taking photos.
How Did Siya and Chetan Meet?
According to sources in the Pune Rural Police, Siya and Chetan first met at a Diwali party hosted by a mutual friend last year. Investigators believe their friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship.
Police said that despite becoming engaged to Ketan Agarwal in February this year, Siya remained in regular contact with Chetan and continued meeting him frequently.
Where Was Murder Plot Allegedly Hatched?
Investigators suspect that Siya was unwilling to marry Ketan, which eventually became the motive behind the alleged murder conspiracy.
According to the police, Siya and Chetan met at a café on June 17 before the crime and discussed the final details of their plan. Investigators said that the duo discussed a vulnerable spot at Lohagad Fort from where Ketan could allegedly be pushed into the gorge.
Before Ketan’s death, Siya allegedly pushed Chetan on June 14, but he survived by holding a tree. Siya told him she saw a snake and pushed him to save him, police said.
Siya and Chetan Blame Each Other
Days after the incident, both accused have reportedly sought to distance themselves from the alleged murder plot by blaming each other.
Probe officials said Chetan has claimed that he wanted to elope with Siya, but she insisted on eliminating Ketan. Siya, meanwhile, has told investigators that the murder was Chetan’s idea and alleged that he became emotional after an earlier attempt to kill Ketan on June 14 had failed.
