Flavio Cobolli takes on the seasoned Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2026 edition of the French Open on Sunday at the fabled Roland Garros, as the two finalists look to get their hands on their maiden Grand Slam crown.
Italian Cobolli has enjoyed a dream run to the final of the event on the storied Parisian clay court, while German Zverev, has possibly his biggest opportunity to break his Major duck.
Cobolli opened his campaign in Paris with his win over compatriot Andrea Pelligrino 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in straight sets, before breezing past Yinbing Wu of China with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 triumph in the second round. Cobolli got the better of American Learner Tien in a 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 thrashing, before moving past Zachary Svadja 6-2, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 to book her berth in quarterfinals. Cobolli downed Canadian Felix Auger Aliassame 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Cobolli booked his berth in the final of the event after compatriot Matteo Arnaldi pulled out ahead of the semifinal encounter.
Zverev, on the other hand, started with aplomb as he got the better of Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, before sinking Thomas Machac 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round.
Zverev went past Quentin Halys 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in the third round before the German put it past Dutchman Jesper de Jong 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 to book his berth in the quarters. Zverev bettered Spaniard Rafael Jodar 7-6, 6-1, 6-3 to book his place in the semis, where he bettered Jakub Mensik 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the championship clash.
