The first Tesla Model Y car has been delivered to Mumbai, only a month after the Elon Musk-owned company opened its first showroom in India. A video of the brand-new model received by its first customer was also shared by ANI.
Who Is The Owner?
The owner of India’s first Model Y Tesla car is Maharashtra’s Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. The video shows Sarnaik receiving the car from the ‘Tesla Experience Centre’ at Bandra Kurla Complex. He was captured posing right beside the brand-new white car.

Tesla Makes Debut In Indian Market
Tesla officially made its entry to the India market on July 15, 2025, with the launch of its first ‘Tesla Experience Centre’ at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. The facility offers Tesla’s electric vehicle range. During the launch, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik were present to unveil the Model Y.
The vehicle comes with a starting price of Rs 6.78 million (approximately USD 79,000) for the long-range, rear-wheel drive version. Tesla’s arrival to the Indian market is seen as a significant moment for accelerating EV adoption in India.
