Five-time champions Brazil headline a fascinating Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, carrying the burden of expectation as they chase a long-awaited sixth world title. Standing in their way are a confident Morocco side eager to build on its historic exploits in Qatar, alongside returning nations Scotland and Haiti.
All Group C matches will be staged in the United States, with Brazil expected to top the section. But this is far from a straightforward draw.
Brazil’s Title Mission Begins
Brazil arrive with one objective: ending a 24-year wait for World Cup glory.
The appointment of Carlo Ancelotti underlines that ambition. The former Real Madrid manager was brought in with a clear mandate — deliver Brazil’s sixth World Cup crown and restore the nation to the summit of international football.
On paper, Group C offers a favourable start. Haiti are appearing at their first World Cup since 1974, while Scotland return to the tournament for the first time since 1998. Yet Brazil’s biggest challenge could come from Morocco.
Morocco Ready To Upset The Script
Morocco enter as arguably the most dangerous second-seeded team in the tournament.
The Atlas Lions stunned the football world at the 2022 World Cup by becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals. That run transformed perceptions of Moroccan football, and they arrive in North America believing another deep run is possible.
Their meeting with Brazil could ultimately decide who finishes top of the group.
With Brazil carrying enormous pressure and Morocco playing with confidence, it has all the ingredients of one of the standout group-stage fixtures.
X Factor: Can Scotland Finally Break The Curse?
For Scotland, the challenge is straightforward but daunting.
The Scots have qualified for eight previous World Cups but have never progressed beyond the group stage. Their opening match against Haiti could define their campaign.
A victory would place them firmly in contention for a knockout-round spot, especially with third-place finishers potentially advancing. Anything less could leave them facing an uphill battle before clashes with Morocco and Brazil.
Scotland will also face Brazil for the fifth time in World Cup history. Their most famous meeting came in 1974 when they held the reigning world champions to a 0-0 draw.
