Sources told CNN-News18 that Faridabad-based Dr Shaheen Saeed played a key role in funding and logistics for the terror module behind the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.

Security agencies are closely examining the role of Dr Shaheen Saeed, a Faridabad-based doctor from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, after intelligence inputs linked her to the terror module suspected to be behind the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, sources told CNN-News18.
Her past marital connection to Maharashtra, through a marriage to Zafar Hyat that ended in divorce in 2015, has now come under scrutiny.
Maharashtra’s security agencies have been alerted and are conducting parallel checks on possible links she may have retained in the state, sources added.
They said that Dr Shaheen was a critical figure in arranging funds and logistical support for the group, and her name has surfaced prominently in the ongoing investigation.
She was reportedly associated with Dr Umar Nabi, who is believed to have been driving the car that exploded in central Delhi on Monday evening, killing 12 people.
Umar, a student of Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, is suspected to have died in the blast.
Sources further revealed that Shaheen maintained close ties with Dr Muzammil Ganaie, another doctor connected to Al-Falah University, from whom a significant cache of arms and explosives was seized.
Investigators said she was also in a personal relationship with Muzammil, placing her in direct contact with the group accused of planning the explosion.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted a raid in Mumbra, near Mumbai.
HOW SHAHEEN CAME UNDER THE LENS
Shaheen was previously employed as a lecturer at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, it was known. She was selected through the Public Service Commission.
However, Shaheen went absent without notice from the Kanpur Medical College in 2013.
Despite repeated reminders, she failed to respond, leading the government to terminate her services in 2021.
After her name surfaced in the ongoing investigation, Kanpur Medical College officials were asked to verify her employment records, which were confirmed by Principal Dr Sanjay Kala.
An ATS team visited the college to collect all related documents. Late into the night, police and investigation agencies were seen examining old records in the principal’s office, cross-checking documents from the period when Shaheen was employed.
Officials also questioned administrative staff responsible for maintaining personnel records.
WHAT MORE DO WE KNOW ABOUT SHAHEEN
Top intelligence inputs accessed by CNN-News18 indicate that Shaheen was radicalised during a Jaish-e-Mohammed recruitment drive, which aimed to form a women’s brigade for psychological warfare operations in India.
She allegedly oversaw recruitment efforts for the group and coordinated the movement of funds that investigators estimate amounted to Rs 35 to 40 lakh, much of it channelled through her contacts.
Investigators have also found that the vehicle used to transport arms and explosives in Faridabad was registered in Shaheen’s name, further deepening suspicion about her role.
Officials told CNN-News18 that she made several trips to Jammu and Kashmir, which are now being mapped to determine whether they coincided with the planning stages of the attack.
The revelations come amid an extensive operation in Faridabad, where police on Tuesday conducted large-scale searches after recovering explosives, inflammable materials, and weapons from two rented premises linked to Dr Muzammil.
The seizures included over 2,900 kg of explosive substances, much of it ammonium nitrate, recovered from properties in Dhouj and Dahar Colony.
Police officials confirmed that Dr Shaheen and Dr Muzammil were among the eight individuals arrested earlier this week as part of a broader crackdown on what investigators described as a “white-collar terror module” operating across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
According to Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Gupta, more than 800 police personnel, assisted by a bomb disposal squad, combed through areas surrounding Al-Falah University, where the accused doctors were based.
“Our search operation is ongoing, and we have questioned more than 50 individuals so far,” he told news agency PTI.
Investigators are also questioning several people from Gurugram and Faridabad in connection with the car used in the blast. Among them is a local car dealer and a former vehicle owner, both being probed to trace the chain of possession of the vehicle that exploded near the Red Fort.
Sources told CNN-News18 that the Faridabad module is suspected to have provided both explosives and manpower for the Delhi attack. The probe is being jointly handled by multiple state police forces, with coordination between Maharashtra, Haryana, and central intelligence agencies as investigators attempt to unravel the full extent of the network’s operations.
