Former WWE world heavyweight champion Jack Swagger is set to make his debut in slap fighting after signing a deal with Dana White’s Power Slap promotion. Swagger, who also competed under the name Jake Hager during his time with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), will fight in the heavyweight division after signing a six-appearance contract.

His first bout is scheduled for April 17th at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, with the event to be streamed live on YouTube.

Power Slap was launched by White and it features competitors taking turns to strike one another across the face without defence, with bouts often decided by knockout.

A wide variety of athletes have featured in the event ranging from mixed martial arts to boxing to American football and more.

Swagger said he understood the risks involved.

“You know what you signed up for,” he said. “You’re signing up to get slapped and trying to slap someone back as hard as you can. So I expect injuries to happen. I know UFC does a great job of covering all expenses related to the injuries. I’m not worried about it, to be honest.”

The 43-year-old was recruited to the promotion by former WWE performer Sinn Bodhi, previously known as Kizarny.

Swagger brings a background in amateur wrestling and a 3-0 professional record in Bellator MMA.

“I’ve been told that I have a very slappable face,” Swagger quipped. “So I’m sure the line will be around the corner.”

His debut will take place on the eve of WrestleMania 42 weekend, when Las Vegas is expected to host wrestling fans.

Swagger has not wrestled since November 2024 and has previously indicated he was finished with professional wrestling.

“I’m getting out of wrestling. I’m pretty much – I could say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company, running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving, not me, I got people driving. I’m excited, something to sink my teeth into,” he told Saraya’s podcast last year.
