Indian Army troops exchanged fire with terrorists in a forest area in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The operation is underway.

An encounter broke between Army troops and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. As per the officials, at around 1 pm fire exchange began in a forest area. The operation is underway.
However, there was no immediate report of any casualty in the gunfight, the officials said.
“Alert troops of White Knight Corps at around 1 pm today, while carrying out an intelligence-based operation in general area of Kishtwar, have established contact with terrorists. Fire exchanged with terrorists. Operation is in progress,” the Army said in a post on X.

As per a PTI report, a brief encounter ensued when army troops launched a search operation after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists in the forest area.
Reinforcements have been rushed and a search operation is underway to track down and neutralize the terrorists, officials added.
Army Pays Tribute To Soldier Killed In Udhampur
An Indian Soldier lost his life during an ongoing operation in Udhampur, on the intervening night of September 19-20. The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on Saturday paid tribute to Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand.
He was critically injured in a gunfight with terrorists and later he succumbed to his injuries.
“#GOC #WhiteKnightCorps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand, who made the supreme sacrifice during an ongoing operation at Kanji, Udhampur on the night of 19-20 Sep 2025. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” the Army said in a post on X.
The soldier was injured late Friday evening when terrorists opened fire on the joint search party of the Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Seoj Dhar forest border in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of Udhampur and Bhaderwah in Doda, the officials said.
