Beginning on 2nd December 2025, the Ministry of Education will host the fourth edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) 4.0 starting December 2. This event will be celebrating the profound civilisational links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. This initiative honours the cultural, linguistic, and people-to-people connections between the two regions, embodying the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat, the education ministry stated in an official notice.
Interested candidates can apply at kashitamil.iitm.ac.in. The registration window will close at 8 PM on November 21, 2025, and a selection quiz will be conducted on November 23, 2025 from 10 AM to 5 PM.
The fourth edition aims to deepen engagement through enhanced learning exchanges, cultural immersion, academic interactions, and greater youth participation, reads the official notice by PIB.

In KTS 4.0, more than 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu will participate under seven categories:
1. Students
2. Teachers
3. Writers & Media Professionals
4. Agriculture & Allied Sectors
5. Professionals & Artisans
6. Women
7. Spiritual Scholars and Practitioners
Delegates will undertake an 8-day experiential tour, including visits to Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya, with interactions, seminars, cultural performances, and exposure to local cuisine, handicrafts, and heritage.
They will visit significant Tamil heritage locations in Varanasi, such as the ancestral house of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharatiyar, Kedar Ghat, the Kasi Madam in the “Little Tamil Nadu” area, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and Mata Annapurna Temple. Additionally, they will visit the Tamil Department at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for academic and literary interactions.
The programme is organised by IIT Madras and BHU Varanasi, with support from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Major Initiatives under KTS 4.0 include Sage Agasthya vehicle expedition from Tenkasi to Kashi; teaching Tamil in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh schools; and Tamil learning study tours for students of Uttar Pradesh.
