Ranked as the 6th most popular study destination worldwide, France welcomes more than 400,000 international students annually. Indian students can select from nearly 1,700 English-taught programmes in fields such as management, engineering, sciences, law, fashion, design, and the arts. For non-French speakers, Classes internationals offer language and foundation courses to facilitate entry into degree programmes. France also provides opportunities for doctoral studies within its dynamic research ecosystem.
Each year, over 500 scholarships are available for Indian students, along with housing assistance and social security coverage of up to 70 per cent of medical expenses. Students gain practical exposure through mandatory internships and professional training alongside academics. After graduation, Master’s students can obtain a two-year residence permit for employment or entrepreneurship opportunities, while the five-year Alumni Schengen Visa offers seamless mobility across Europe, the notice added.
France is renowned for being one of the most student-friendly countries in Europe, thanks to its subsidised education system. Public universities charge minimal tuition fees, making it an affordable destination for international students. Various scholarship programmes, such as the Charpak and Eiffel Excellence Scholarships, help reduce costs. Prestigious institutions like PSL University and Sorbonne University offer outstanding academic programmes. However, students should budget for living expenses ranging from Rs 94,000 to Rs 1.4 lakh per month.
