DRDO ने किया प्रलय मिसाइल का सफल टेस्ट, 500 KM रेंज… न दुश्मन रोक पाएगा, न बच पाएगा

India test-fired the Pralay missile developed by Defense Research and Development Organization – DRDO on 3 November 2026 near Chandipur, Odisha. According to the information provided, this test was successful. During the test, the missile adopted a path which has the ability to change direction mid-flight. Because of this, it can be challenging for enemy radar and missile defense systems to stop it.

In view of the testing, more than 2,500 people from surrounding areas were evacuated to temporary shelters. Now the process of evaluation will be important regarding the possible use of this missile in the Indian Army and Air Force. However, independent official confirmation of the success of this particular test of 3 November and details of the evacuation are not available. before this DRDO Has conducted many successful tests of Doomsday.

What is Pralaya Missile and why is it special?

Pralay India’s indigenous surface-to-surface quasi-ballistic missile Is. It has been developed by DRDO. This is a missile which is launched from the ground and which can target the enemy’s ground military targets. Its biggest specialty is its way of flying.

Normal ballistic missiles follow a fixed curved path, while quasi-ballistic missiles can change their direction and path during flight. This may make it difficult for enemy radar and anti-missile systems to accurately predict its path.

Key Features and Technical Features of Pralay Missile

The strike range of Pralay is said to be around 150 to 500 kilometers. It runs on solid fuel i.e. solid propellant rocket motor. A major advantage of solid fuel is that the missile can be kept in the ready state for a long time and can be launched rapidly when needed. It can be fired from a mobile launcher, which means there is no need to depend on any one permanent launching station.

With this, the army can deploy it at different places. According to the Defense Ministry, Pralay is equipped with modern navigation and guidance systems, which help it reach the target more accurately. It is also capable of carrying different types of warheads.

Why does quasi-ballistic technology make it dangerous?

To intercept a missile during war, the enemy’s air defense system estimates its path, speed and possible target. The path of a conventional ballistic missile can be relatively predictable. But a quasi-ballistic missile like Pralay can change course during flight.

This can make it difficult to track and intercept him. This technology makes it different from normal missiles. However, this does not mean that no missile defense system can stop it. Its effectiveness will depend on the circumstances and the opponent’s defensive capability.

Pralay is seen as a system to strengthen India’s strategic missile capability. Its strike range of up to 500 kilometers provides the option to target important military targets across the border areas. Being a mobile launcher, it also provides flexibility in deployment. This can give the army the ability to take rapid action in different situations.

It has been developed in collaboration with the Research Center Building in Hyderabad and many other laboratories of DRDO. Industrial partners like Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited have also been involved in its manufacturing and system integration.

Successful tests have already been done

The first test of Doomsday took place in December 2021. After this, in July 2025, DRDO Odisha Conducted two consecutive successful flight tests from the coast. In December 2025, the test of firing two rockets of the same missile from the same launcher in a short interval of time was also successful. The Defense Ministry had then said that both the missiles followed the prescribed path and met all the test objectives. These tests strengthened its reliability and preparedness for inclusion in the army.

Overall, Pralay is an important step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defense technology and short-range precision strike capability. Its actual usefulness will depend on when and how it is inducted into the army after trials. If it becomes operational successfully, it can give India an additional and flexible option for border security.
