DRDO conducted the first live jump of Advanced High Altitude Parachute in Nyoma, Ladakh on Tuesday. The paratroopers jumped from a height of 16,000 feet. The parachute opened at 15,500 feet and the soldiers made a safe landing in the drop zone.
It is a static line parachute system for landing large numbers of paratroopers in high altitude areas. This jump was done at the Nyoma Madah drop zone in Ladakh, which is one of the highest drop zones in the world.
This system has been created by ‘Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment’ (ADRDE) of Agra.

Specialty of parachute- It can jump from 18 thousand feet
This test was conducted to test the capability and military use of the indigenously made AHAP parachute for high altitude areas. It has been investigated by the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA).
It has been certified by the Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC), RCMA Kanpur. The ministry said that there are several ways to open a parachute in advanced high altitude. Its operational altitude range is up to 18,000 feet.
It is especially useful for the military needs of the Indian Army in high altitude areas. Static line parachute jumping at such altitudes is difficult and risky. The reason for this is the very strong shock felt when the parachute opens and the speed of descent.
benefits to the army
Height deployment: This parachute system is specially designed to work in mountainous areas (like Ladakh) at altitudes up to 18,000 feet. With this, the army can quickly transport soldiers even to those remote areas where it is difficult to reach by road or other means.
Mass Drop Capacity: It is a ‘static line parachute system’, designed for ‘mass drop’. That is, a large number of paratroopers (soldiers) can be landed simultaneously in a safe manner in a very short time.
Security: Parachute jumping at such a height is extremely risky because there is less air and the ‘opening shock’ is very strong. The specialty of AHAP is that it provides a very safe descent speed, which reduces the risk of injury to soldiers.
Strategic Flexibility: This system offers a variety of ‘deployment modes’ (methods of opening), through which the Army can use it according to its needs and ground conditions.

Test of Indian Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile successful: Can dodge defense systems, ability to destroy targets 1000km away.

India has successfully tested the indigenous Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), further strengthening its long-range precision strike capability. LRLACM is a cruise missile, which is designed for precise attack on long-range ground targets. That means it can attack even enemy positions 1000 km away. Read the full news…
