The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a comprehensive chargesheet detailing the “white-collar” mastermind network behind the Red Fort blast. The report, exclusively decoded by CNN-News18, reveals how a group of highly educated doctors transitioned from saving lives to mastering the lethal chemistry of TATP—the high-intensity explosive notoriously known as the “Mother of Satan”.

Medical Precision in Bomb-Making
The NIA reveals that these “white-collar doctors” did not just participate in the plot; they mastered the technical operations of explosive manufacturing. Using their scientific backgrounds, the group acquired comprehensive knowledge of chemical compositions, rocket propulsion, and high-intensity detonations.
According to the NIA, the group operated with clinical efficiency:
Procurement: They identified and mapped every major chemical shop and raw material vendor, operating with a “ready formula” to ensure rapid execution.
Scale: The group successfully procured approximately 2.5 tons of fertiliser, learning through YouTube tutorials how to process and refine these agricultural chemicals into military-grade explosive compositions.
The ‘Mother of Satan’: Evading the Scanners
The group’s most alarming breakthrough was the successful production of Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP). Known as the “Mother of Satan”, TATP is a non-nitrate explosive, making it virtually undetectable by standard nitrate scanners used at most security checkpoints.
Because TATP is notoriously unstable and sensitive to heat and friction, the doctors applied their scientific training to manage its volatility. They manufactured specialised cooling pitchers and added 30% stabilising substances to maintain the chemical’s integrity. NIA sources reveal the suspects made high-risk trips every third day to a “safe house” in Faridabad to monitor the temperature and stability of the stockpile used in the car blast.
Rockets, Pipe Bombs, and Gas Cylinders
The conspiracy extended far beyond traditional IEDs. The NIA chargesheet documents a diverse arsenal designed for maximum carnage:
Rocketry: Trials involved compacted pipes filled with specialised sugar-based fuel mixtures. The doctors reportedly tested launch heads that could be fired upward during coordinated strikes.
Electrolysis Lab: The group attempted to manufacture Erythritol PETN. They procured industrial anodes and used electrolysis on saltwater chloride to separate the chemical components needed for high-velocity explosives.
Modified Ordnance: Domestic gas cylinders were repurposed into heavy-duty bombs by drilling holes and filling them with explosive slurry, while pipe bombs were specifically designed for remote detonation.
Faridabad: The Secret Laboratory
The Faridabad location served as the nerve centre for the network’s chemical trials. The NIA highlights that the group’s ability to procure industrial-scale raw materials without raising suspicion was largely due to their “white-collar” status, which acted as a perfect camouflage for their activities.
