Reliance Jio Platforms made its historic stock market debut today (Wednesday, October 28, 2026), achieving a stellar listing that solidified its position as India’s second-most valuable public company.

Following the record-breaking $3.2 billion initial public offering (IPO) — the largest in Indian history — Mukesh Ambani threw a massive celebratory gala featuring drones, DJs, dancing, and a helipad to mark the conglomerate’s first major listing in two decades.

BUMPER MARKET DEBUT

Jio shares opened 21.4% above their IPO issue price and closed their first trading day up nearly 27% at ₹1,417.5 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The opening rally catapulted Jio Platforms’ valuation to $137 billion (over ₹12.5 lakh crore), placing it second only to its parent company, Reliance Industries.

The public issue closed last week oversubscribed by 22 times, attracting a world-beating 1.39 crore applications.

In Mumbai, Reuters reported how the party began before the stock market listing.

Social media posts show large-scale private gatherings held at the Reliance Corporate Park near Mumbai this week, which included dozens of food stalls serving Indian street food, dance performances and jam sessions blending devotional music with contemporary rhythms.

“Given the Ambani family’s unique wedding celebrations, its IPO festivities are also expected to be out of the ordinary,” said Ambareesh Baliga, an independent market analyst in Mumbai, told Reuters.

Reliance is holding a “grand event” where there will be DJ performances, a drone show and a jam session where popular Indian singers will perform – all next to a helipad, according to an internal invitation seen by Reuters.

This week, many employees posted on social media clips of hundreds of people dancing to live music, said the report.
