The government has announced this year’s performance linked bonus for the employees of the postal department. According to the order issued by the Postal Department, employees will be given a bonus equal to 60 days i.e. 2 months’ salary.

Every information related to this matter in question and answer…

Question 1: What big announcement has the government made for the employees of the Postal Department?

answer: The Central Government has announced bonus to the employees of the Postal Department for 2025-26. The Department of Posts of the Ministry of Communications has issued its order on 16 October 2026. Under this, eligible employees will get a bonus equal to 60 days’ salary.

Question 2: Which employees will get the benefit of this bonus?

answer: This decision will benefit the following employees of the Postal Department:

  • Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted Group ‘B’ and MTS Employees.
  • Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) working in villages and rural areas.
  • Full-time and temporary casual laborers (daily/temporary workers).

Question 3: What is the maximum bonus that employees will receive?

answer: The maximum salary limit has been fixed at ₹7,000 per month. Even if someone’s basic salary and allowances are more than this, the calculation will still be ₹ 7,000. Accordingly, employees will get a maximum bonus of ₹ 13,816.

Question 4: How will the bonus be calculated?

answer: The formula to withdraw the bonus is quite simple:

Bonus amount = (average salary × 60 days) ÷ 30.4

Here 30.4 is considered as the average day of the month.

Question 5: Which allowances will be added in the calculation of bonus?

answer: While calculating the salary of regular employees, their basic pay, dearness allowance (DA), SB allowance, deputation allowance and training allowance will be added together.

Question 6: How will Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) get bonus?

answer: The TRCA and Dearness Allowance (DA) received by Gramin Dak Sevaks will be averaged for the entire year. Even if it exceeds ₹7,000 per month, it will still be considered as ₹7,000. That means Gramin Dak Sevaks will also get a maximum bonus of up to ₹ 13,816.

Question 7: Will the employees who have retired or left the job also get money?

answer: Yes, absolutely. Employees who have retired between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, who have resigned or who have been transferred to another department, will also get bonus money according to the days they have worked.

Question 8: Will the bonus be deducted for taking leave or being absent?

answer: Yes, if an employee has taken leave without pay or is considered absent from work for a period, the bonus amount will be deducted in the same proportion as the number of days taken off.

Question 9: What are the rules for part-time or intermediate recruited postal servants?

answer: Postal servants working temporarily in someone’s place will not get this benefit. If a postal servant has joined or left the job in the middle of the year, he will get a proportionate bonus only for the number of months he has worked.
