Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday clarified Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent “Dimagi Naxals” remark, saying the term was not directed at opposition leaders.

In a post on X, Rijiju said that PM Modi “didn’t say opposition leaders as Dimagi Naxals” and listed the groups he said the term referred to. “Only the following are Dimagi Naxals,” Rijiju wrote, identifying those who support Maoists and reject the Indian Constitution as the first category.

He also included people who “stand with separatists & support Article 370″ and those who “want to cut chicken neck to separate North-East from India.”

The remarks come after PM Modi, while addressing the nation on the iconic ramparts of Red Fort on 80th Independence Day on Saturday, used the term “Dimagi Naxals”, with opposition parties questioning the language used against critics and political rivals.
