The Indian badminton squad continues to soar at the Denmark Open, delivering statement wins across both singles and doubles categories on Thursday.
Lakshya Sen Stuns Antonsen in Straight Games
In one of his finest performances of the season, Lakshya Sen produced a clinical masterclass to upset second seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark in straight games, storming into the men’s singles quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old Indian mixed sharp attacking play with rock-solid defence to silence the home favourite, sealing a 21-13, 21-14 victory. Sen looked in control from start to finish, using his trademark net precision and quick footwork to outmanoeuvre the world No. 3.
Satwik-Chirag Edge Past Chinese Taipei Duo
India’s top men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, also booked their spot in the quarterfinals after a gritty straight-sets win over Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei.
Despite what the scoreline suggests, the match was anything but straightforward. The world No. 1 Indian duo had to dig deep in both games, eventually closing out a tense 21-19, 21-17 contest to keep their title defence alive.
