The University of Delhi (DU) has recently released an amendment to Clause 6 of Ordinance IV of the university, relating to migration and re-admission. According to this amendment, students who are struggling to clear their elective or optional subjects after multiple attempts may now be permitted to change their optional, elective, or subsidiary subjects to a new subject.

As per the institute, this amendment will be effective from the academic session 2024-2025. Under the existing provisions, changes to optional, elective, or subsidiary subjects in any semester of undergraduate or postgraduate courses were previously prohibited, the notification states.

Now, students can change their optional, elective, or subsidiary subjects if they fail multiple times in a particular paper. Candidates who register for the new subject must note that they will have to fulfil all academic requirements, including internal assessments and attendance, and earn the necessary credits to pass. The decision aims to provide students with greater flexibility and support in completing their academic requirements through this alteration.

“In case a student is unable to pass the paper after multiple attempts, he/she may be permitted to change the optional or elective subjects or subsidiary subjects in any semester of the postgraduate or undergraduate course, register for the new elective course, fulfil all the academic requirements, including attendance, internal assessments, and continuous assessment, and thus earn the requisite credits,” reads the official notice.

The university has further stated that the rest of the provisions under Ordinance IV remain unchanged. Moreover, it has instructed all colleges and departments to implement the revised ordinance starting this academic year.

Meanwhile, the University of Delhi (DU) has opened the registration process for the placement-cum-internship drive. The Central Placement Cell (CPC) under the Dean Students’ Welfare, DU, is conducting the placement and internship drive on December 4 and December 5.

While inviting applications, the university also added that all bona fide regular students of the university studying in any course at the UG and PG levels will be eligible to register for the DU placement cum internship drive. The placement and internship drive will take place at the conference centre, opposite the Botany Department, Gate Number 4, DU.
