The video shows the policeman making an Instagram reel while handling the firearm. His BRICS Summit identity card is visible in the footage. The video quickly drew attention online, with social media users questioning the conduct of a police officer during a high-security international event.

The individual seen in the video has been identified as a Delhi Police constable. Officials said he is posted in the force’s northwest district. Following the incident, a departmental inquiry was initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding the video and his conduct.

The action comes as Delhi is under tight security for the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 being held at Bharat Mandapam. The international summit has led to extensive security and traffic arrangements across the national capital.

Delhi Police issued a public advisory on Sunday, warning that traffic movement in several parts of the city could be affected because of VVIP movement. People were advised to use public transport and follow alternative routes wherever necessary.

Commuters travelling to airports, railway stations and ISBTs have also been asked to leave early and keep additional time for their journeys. Non-destined commercial vehicles have been restricted from entering the city as part of the traffic arrangements.

Delhi Police has advised airport-bound passengers to use the Metro, which is operating normally.

The constable’s suspension and the ongoing inquiry will now determine the circumstances in which the video was recorded and whether any departmental rules were violated.
