A day after a 21-year-old Delhi model identified as Muskan was found murdered in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar, police apprehended the prime accused, Imran, after sustaining three bullet injuries to his leg during an encounter.

Muskan was stabbed to death inside her rented home in Delhi’s New Mahavir Nagar area of Tilak Nagar. She was alone at home when the accused allegedly entered the house and repeatedly attacked her with a knife.

DCP Hareshwar V. Swami said, “A girl named Muskaan was murdered in the Tilak Nagar area. The prime suspect in the case was identified as Imran, son of Javed.”

Following the murder, police launched a search operation across the district, with several teams deployed to track down the accused. According to DCP Swami, Imran had been moving between different locations and changing his hideouts.

“A naka-bandi was conducted across the district, and several police teams were deployed to search for him. He had been moving around and changing his hideouts at different locations,” DCP Swami said.

A Special Staff team led by Inspector Rajesh spotted the accused while conducting checks in the area on Thursday evening. Police identified him as Imran and moved to apprehend him.

“Today evening, a Special Staff team led by Inspector Rajesh was conducting checks in the area when they spotted a suspicious person. On closer inspection, they identified him as Imran,” DCP Swami said.

“When the team moved to apprehend him, he opened fire at the police party. In retaliatory firing, he sustained three bullet injuries to his leg…” DCP Swami said.

Police subsequently apprehended the accused.

Muskan suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to a hospital, where she later died. She was a student and also worked part-time as a model.

Delhi Police said Muskaan and Imran were acquainted with each other, though the motive behind the killing has not yet been established. Joint Commissioner of Police, Western Range, Suman Goyal, said the circumstances leading to the murder were being investigated.

Dimple, who owns the gym where Muskaan had exercised, said she had been a member of the facility for around six months before leaving when her membership expired. Imran had also worked at the gym as a trainer for three to four months before quitting, she said.

People known to Muskaan’s family alleged that Imran was responsible for the killing. Muskaan’s brother, Aakash, also told police and family members that Imran had stabbed her.

Muskan’s murder was motivated by a deteriorating romantic relationship with her gym trainer, Imran, who became aggressive and accused her of speaking to another man. The relationship, which had lasted over a year, began to worsen about two months before the murder.
