A major building collapse in Delhi’s Chawri Bazaar has left at least two people dead and several others injured, triggering an emergency rescue operation in Old Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the accident site and announced strict action against those responsible.An FIR has been registered against the contractor overseeing the construction, while the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended the concerned Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer over alleged negligence. The Chief Minister has also ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident and directed officials to provide immediate assistance and the best possible medical treatment to those affected.Police said the construction was unauthorised and that concerns had previously been raised about the building.
