School Holidays In December 2025: As December begins today, students across the country are excited as the final month of the year arrives with expectations of holidays, winter break and festive celebrations. While November had fewer holidays and many schools were busy conducting examinations, December is likely to bring more relaxed days for school students.
December 2025 will include several fixed holidays along with state-specific ones, in addition to regular weekends. Schools across India, especially in North India where winters are harsh, typically close for winter vacation during this period. In some schools, Christmas break starts even before the designated winter break.

Winter Vacation
In Delhi, residents are still waiting for the severe winter chill, while in Madhya Pradesh and several northern states, the winter season has already begun. As temperatures fall, many schools have adjusted their timings, starting classes later in the morning, usually around 8 or 9 am, to accommodate colder weather.
Winter vacations are generally declared based on local climatic conditions rather than a uniform national schedule. Therefore, the duration and start dates of winter break vary across states. Some regions may begin holidays early in December, while others may start later, depending on temperature patterns.
