Commonwealth Games 2026, India Day 5 Live Updates: India’s athletics campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 begins on Monday, July 27, with the men’s high jump final in focus. National record holder Sarvesh Kushare leads a strong Indian lineup alongside Tejaswin Shankar and Aadarsh Ram Jothi Shankar.
Sarvesh arrives in top form after clearing 2.31m in Bhubaneswar to break Tejaswin’s long-standing national record and finishing third at the Monaco Diamond League. Tejaswin, who has shifted focus to the decathlon, remains a key contender and won bronze in the high jump at Birmingham 2022.
Tejas Shirse starts his 110m hurdles campaign in the heats, while Gurindervir Singh runs in the 100m heats. Long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Lokesh Sathyanathan will compete in qualification.
In weightlifting, Gyaneshwari Yadav, Bindyarani Devi and Valluri Ajaya Babu will compete in their finals after India’s strong start, led by Mirabai Chanu’s gold.
