1. Dealers will be able to keep 2000 quintals of sugar from September 15: Stock will not be kept for more than 30 days, government’s decision to stop hoarding and reduce prices.

Sugar may soon become cheaper in the country. The central government has announced to reduce the stock limit for sugar dealers to prevent hoarding and control prices before festivals.
According to the new order of the Food Ministry, from September 15, sugar traders and dealers will be able to keep a maximum stock of only 2,000 quintals. This new rule will remain in force across the country till 30 November 2026.

2. ₹ 1.5 windfall tax on export of petrol: ₹ 25 tax will be imposed on export of one liter diesel, new rates applicable

The central government has increased the tax on export of petrol and diesel. Oil companies will now have to pay a windfall tax of ₹1.5 per liter on export of petrol, which was zero earlier.
At the same time, tax on export of diesel has been increased from ₹ 24 to ₹ 25 per liter. However, the tax on export of ATF i.e. jet fuel has been reduced by 50 paise per liter, bringing it down from ₹19.5 to ₹19 per litre.
