Jantar Mantar Protest Live Updates: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday announced a “final call to save democracy”, urging its supporters to reach Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10 to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
The Delhi Police, meanwhile, denied permission to the CJP to hold its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, arguing that it could lead to “serious” law and order issues and citing alleged violations of conditions agreed upon for July demonstration.
Delhi Police Rolls Out Security Measures
The Delhi Police has rolled out several security measures ahead of the protest, including the shutting down of markets and key Metro stations, cancelling dozens of trains travelling to the national capital, along with internet curbs in parts of the city.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directed all States and Union Territories (U.T.s) to coordinate with the Delhi Police and initiate measures to stop the movement of protesters towards Delhi.
