CBSE Warns Against Fake NCERT Textbooks; Know Where To Buy Original Books

CBSE has issued an important advisory to all its schools, highlighting that counterfeit and low-quality NCERT textbooks are being sold widely in the market. These books are available at low prices but contain printing errors and content inaccuracies, which could negatively impact children’s studies. The board has urged schools to advise parents and students to purchase only genuine textbooks. The official notice is available on cbse.gov.in.

“It has come to the notice of the Board that unauthorised book sellers are supplying counterfeit/fake versions of NCERT textbooks at discounted prices. These fake textbooks are of inferior quality and often contain printing and content errors, which may adversely affect the learning experience of students,” states the official notice.

Schools should remain vigilant. CBSE has explicitly instructed that if schools purchase books, they should only source them from authorised providers by the board or NCERT. Avoid buying books from local shops or unknown sellers, as counterfeit books can misinform students and negatively impact their exam performance, the board stated.

Where To Buy Original NCERT Books:

According to CBSE, parents can buy the original books from:

1. NCERT’s Regional Production and Distribution Centers (RPDCs).

2. Authorized sellers listed on NCERT’s official website, ncert.nic.in.

3. Order through the NCERT portal’s postal delivery service.

4. NCERT’s official Amazon storefront, amazon.in/NCERT.

Books from these locations will be 100% authentic and correct, the board stated.
