The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued show cause notices to 34 schools for not adhering to its rules and regulations. In its official notification, the CBSE highlighted that some schools had unknowingly participated in sports events organised by the “CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society” (CBSE-WSO) in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a group not affiliated with the board. This non-compliance was one of the key reasons for the issuance of the notices.
The list of schools that received the show-cause notice is available to stakeholders and schools on the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in. The board cautioned schools against partnering with this organisation or taking part in its sporting events, stating that it is not affiliated with the CBSE.
Schools were cautioned not to cooperate with the above organisation in any way and not to compete in any of its sporting events because it had no affiliation with the board; if they did, they would be subject to sanctions under CBSE policies and procedures. Additionally, schools were instructed to double-check the information on the CBSE website if they received correspondence from any of these organisations.
The schools were also given a show-cause notice for their failure to guarantee adherence to the terms and conditions outlined in the 2018 Affiliation Bye-Laws guidelines. Within 30 days following the notification’s date of issuance, the schools that got the show cause notice are expected to reply. The board pointed to its previous Circular No. 04/2019, dated January 30, 2019, which emphasised the necessity of following the Affiliation Bye-Laws.
According to Clause No. 12, any noncompliance will be deemed as a violation, and action will be taken under Chapter 12 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws of 2018.
Furthermore, Clause 9.2 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws holds the heads of affiliated schools responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all CBSE regulations and directions.
To preserve the standards of instruction and administration, this move acts as a harsh warning to schools to be watchful and guarantee complete adherence to CBSE’s criteria.
