A woman whose Mahindra Thar dramatically crashed through a Delhi showroom’s glass wall and overturned on the road described the moment, saying that the RPM of the car was high.
The Ghaziabad resident also dismissed social media rumours of her death or severe injury, clarifying that no one was harmed in the accident.
The incident occurred at an automobile outlet in East Delhi’s Nirman Vihar when 29-year-old Maani Pawar from Ghaziabad was taking delivery of the newly purchased SUV, priced around Rs 27 lakh.
As part of a customary ritual, she was performing the lemon-crushing ceremony under the wheels when the accident happened.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Pawar clarified that neither she nor anyone else was injured.
“The car was at high RPM. The salesman had already told us, and it suddenly accelerated, crashed through the glass and plunged down. But all three of us—my family member, the salesman, and I—managed to exit through the front door safely,” she said.
Rejecting viral claims that she had fractured her nose or died in the crash, she added: “The purpose behind making this video is to debunk the false news. Some people, just to gain views and likes, have spread fake videos. I am alive and not dead. Please stop spreading these rumours.”
Footage of the incident, which quickly spread online, showed the overturned Thar lying on the road outside the showroom moments after the fall.
Police have not reported any injuries, and the dealership has yet to issue an official statement.
