The Beast Incarnate is back.
Brock Lesnar made a shocking return on Friday night’s WWE SmackDown, interfering in the United States Championship match between John Cena and Sami Zayn.
The dramatic attack came during the match’s closing moments. Cena appeared to have victory in hand, pinning Zayn, when Lesnar stormed to the ringside. He yanked the referee out of the ring, breaking the count, then climbed inside to wreak havoc.
Lesnar delivered an F5 to Zayn, followed by two devastating F5s to Cena, leaving both men incapacitated. With Cena laid out, Zayn was able to retain the United States Championship.
The ambush continued Lesnar’s targeted campaign against Cena, which began at SummerSlam on August 3, when he blindsided the 17-time world champion after his loss to Cody Rhodes.
Cena vs. Zayn Delivers Before the Chaos
Before Lesnar’s shocking interruption, Cena and Zayn delivered a highly competitive match filled with momentum shifts and near-falls. Both men landed their signature moves, and Zayn even stunned the crowd by hitting Cena with his own Attitude Adjustment.
The contest had all the makings of a classic until Lesnar made his presence felt, shifting the focus entirely onto Cena’s unfinished business with “The Beast.”
Lesnar’s First Appearance in Over a Year
Friday’s attack marked Lesnar’s first WWE television appearance since 2023 and his second since August 3, when he initially reignited his rivalry with Cena at SummerSlam.
Given Lesnar’s part-time schedule in recent years, his return carries significant weight and ensures that his feud with Cena will be a centerpiece of WWE programming in the weeks to come.
This escalating feud appears to be heading toward a blockbuster clash, as the WWE is heavily teasing that Lesnar and Cena will meet one final time at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
