BRICS Summit 2026: The Delhi government will inspect the route from Bharat Mandapam to Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday as part of preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit, officials said.
The inspection will be conducted under the chairmanship of the Delhi chief secretary and will focus on roads, potholes, footpaths, drainage, waterlogging, cleanliness and the overall civic appearance of the route.
Officials from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Police, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will take part in the exercise.
Roads, Drainage And Cleanliness In Focus
The additional chief secretary (I&FC) has been asked to review drainage arrangements, waterlogging-prone areas and emergency dewatering measures along the route.
The NDMC chairperson will inspect areas under the council’s jurisdiction, particularly venues and locations where visiting dignitaries will stay. The MCD commissioner will review cleanliness, encroachments, beautification and stray animal management.
The PWD has been directed to check roads, potholes, signage, illumination, cleanliness and waterlogging and take corrective measures wherever required.
The authorities will also ensure that BRICS-related branding and the overall appearance of the city are in place along the designated routes.
Traffic Curbs From Sept 10
Traffic movement in central, south and southwest Delhi is likely to be affected for four days from September 10 as the capital prepares to host the two-day BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13.

Restrictions are expected to remain in place from the arrival of foreign delegates on September 10 until their departure around September 14. Commuters could face diversions, congestion and temporary road closures on several key routes.
According to officials, traffic arrangements are likely to affect at least 22 arterial roads across central, south and southwest Delhi.
Commuters Advised To Plan Ahead
Traffic police will coordinate vehicle movement along routes designated for visiting delegations. Regular traffic may be temporarily diverted or halted to facilitate the movement of dignitaries.
Commuters travelling through central and south Delhi have been advised to keep additional travel time in hand during the summit period and stay updated on traffic restrictions.
The Delhi Traffic Police is expected to issue detailed advisories closer to the summit, listing affected roads, diversion routes and timings of restrictions.
