The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has once again postponed the 72nd Combined Preliminary Competitive Examination. The exam was scheduled to be held on October 25, but it will no longer take place on that date. The commission has not announced a fresh date yet and said further details will be shared soon. It has also not stated the reason for the postponement.

The 72nd PT exam was originally scheduled for July 26 but was postponed just days before the examination. The commission later fixed October 25 as the new date. With the latest postponement, candidates have now had to change their exam plans twice in three months.

Candidates who had planned their revision schedules around the July exam had to shift their preparation to October. The latest postponement has once again left many aspirants uncertain about their preparation plans.

Through the Teacher Recruitment Examination, TRE 4.0, a total of 32,388 vacancies will be filled across four school levels:

Classes 1 to 5: Total 3,847 posts

Classes 6 to 8: Total 8,563 posts

Classes 9 and 10: Total 3,877 posts

Classes 11 and 12: Total 16,101 posts

Earlier, aspirants opposed the three-stage process of prelims, mains and interview, arguing that it is too demanding for a job with a monthly salary of around Rs 40,000. Candidates also alleged that the delay is affecting their career plans. Student leader Dilip and other protesters claimed that the BPSC examination controller had said on April 16 that the notification would be issued within three to four days and applications would begin on April 25. However, no notification had been issued by May 8.

Protests also intensified in Patna, with police deploying barricades, water cannons and tear gas to stop the candidates’ march. Protesters alleged that several candidates were injured during the confrontation, while videos of the incident circulated on social media. Following protests, the Bihar government agreed to conduct TRE 4.0 in a single phase.
