In Ward No. 90 (H/East), Santa Cruz, Congress candidate Advocate Tulip Brian Miranda defeated BJP candidate Jyoti Anil Upadhyay by just 7 votes. According to official figures, Congress candidate Tulip Miranda got a total of 5,197 votes. While BJP’s Jyoti Upadhyay got 5,190 votes.

This very slight difference made this ward the most talked about contest of the entire BMC elections.

While the contest was close in Santa Cruz, BJP registered a landslide victory in ward number 46 of Malad West. BJP candidate Yogita Sunil Koli got 37,831 votes. Snehita Sandesh Dehlikar of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had to face a crushing defeat. Yogita Koli won by a huge margin of 21,717 votes, which is being counted among the biggest victories of this election.

This time in the BMC elections, the balance of power was completely seen in favor of Shiv Sena of BJP-Eknath Shinde faction. BJP + Shiv Sena of Shinde faction won 118 seats. BJP won 89 seats, Shinde faction won 29 seats. The majority figure is 114.

Whereas, Shiv Sena (UBT) won 65 seats, MNS 6 seats, NCP (Sharad Pawar) 1 seat, Congress 24 seats, AIMIM 8 seats.
