Election Commission shared an update on ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and said that so far, 98.2% voters have submitted their documents for the exercise.

The Election Commission on Sunday gave an update on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, and said that it has received documents from 98.2% voters during the exercise, pointing out that only 0.16% claims and objections have been received, with eight more days to go before the September 1 deadline.
The poll body said that out of 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 10 objections were received from the Block Level Agent of 12 political parties, while 1,21,143 individual voters filed claims.
The poll body underlined that all claims and objections will be resolved by September 25.
“As per information received from the office of CEO, Bihar, till date, documents of 98.2% of Electors have been received. Out of 7.24 Crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16% Claims and Objections have been received so far. 10 from the BLAs of 12 Recognised Political Parties in Bihar,” the Election Commission said in a statement.

A total of 3,28,847 new voters have applied for voter registration, it said.
