The Boxing Federation of India president, Ajay Singh, who had earlier suspended secretary-general Pramod Kumar due to alleged financial irregularities, was himself suspended by the latter, according to a report in PTI.
Ajay suspended Pramod on Tuesday pending an inquiry into allegations of financial irregularities, non-cooperation with investigations and abuse of authority.
On Wednesday, Pramod hit back by issuing an order suspending Ajay pending the outcome of a no-confidence motion he planned to move at a Special General Meeting scheduled for October 28.
Pramod had claimed to have the backing of a majority of affiliated state units for the no-confidence motion.
Pramod accused Ajay of continuing to exercise executive control over the federation despite receiving a cease-and-desist notice on Thursday.
“You are hereby placed under interim suspension from the office of Secretary General with immediate effect, pending completion of the inquiry or until the order is modified or revoked by the competent authority, subject to the applicable provisions of the BFI Constitution,” read the order against Pramod, according to PTI.
The order, however, clarified that the suspension was an interim measure and didn’t constitute a final ruling on the allegations.
In his order, Ajay also accused Pramod of not cooperating with an inquiry into the cancellation of a national championship and attempting to convene an unauthorised meeting to bring a no-confidence motion against the president.
In the BFI order, Ajay alleged that the federation had received payment notices from Pinnacle Broadcast Productions demanding Rs 1.5 crore for broadcasting services provided at the World Boxing Finals Cup in Greater Noida in November last year.
In an earlier letter to the president, Pramod had claimed that Pinnacle pledged Rs 2 crore towards sponsorship and broadcasting of the event. But the company has denied making any such commitment.
“The Federation has recently received notices from Pinnacle Broadcast Productions making a claim for Rs. 1.5 crore (approx.) for broadcasting undertaken in the World Boxing Final’s Cup, Greater Noida, November 2025,” the order says.
