A Bengaluru man has been arrested for allegedly killing a 22-year-old woman, Bhavani, he was in a relationship with. This incident is reported to have occurred in the Byadarahalli area of the city. According to the police, the man, Chandrshekar alias Chandan, took this action after both of them tried to consume poison in a bid to end their lives together but the woman vomited and survived.
He consumed poison himself after strangling Bhavani to death.
The victim was found dead at her rented room, in Tulasinagar, Thigalarapalya, by the owner of the apartment. The owner was informed by the victim’s family when they could not connect with her over call after trying several times and became suspicious. Chandan was also found in the room unconscious due to the poison.
The Complete Picture
According to reports, Bhavani became acquainted with Chandrashekar at a mobile phone showroom where she used to work. They were in a relationship for several years, as per the police. However, Chandrashekar was already married and was a father to a six-year-old, the police said. In spite of that, he secretly married Bhavani about a year ago.
Unaware of this, Bhavani’s family started the preparations for her marriage to a person of their choice and had planned an engagement ceremony next week. She informed Chandrashekar of her family’s plan, the police learned. This led to a confrontation between the two at Bhavani’s room on Sunday.
The couple allegedly considered taking their own lives together when Bhavani told Chandrashekar that her family would never accept their relationship, the accused told the police during questioning. It was at that point that they consumed poison but Bhavani survived the attempt because she vomited.
Chandrashekar then strangled Bhavani to death before consuming poison himself, the police suspect. Before this, the accused had posted an image of himself with Bhavani on Instagram and described it as their first wedding anniversary.
How Did The Incident Come To Light
It was this post that Bhavani’s relatives came across. They took screenshots and informed her parents, who began calling her but could not connect after which the victim’s father asked the owner of the apartment to inspect.
Upon reaching the room, the owner found Chandrashekar in distress after consuming the poison and Bhavani dead. He called the police.
Chandrashekar was rushed to the hospital by the police and Bhavani’s body was taken for post-mortem examination. The accused is being held and questioned by the Byadarahalli police after having recovered.
Further investigation is underway and the case has been registered at the Byadarahalli Police Station.
