Arsenal enjoyed their coronation as Premier League champions after a 22-year-wait as they completed the formality of the final game, after having mathematically won the league pipping Man City, to get their hands on the English top-flight title.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners bookended a memorable season with a 2-1 win over London rivals Crystal Palace, while Pep Guardiola bid adieu to England with a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.
Manchester United finished third behind rivals City, with their 3-0 win over Brighton on the road as Michael Carrick helped the side salvage a tumultuous start to the season. Skipper Bruno Fernandes scripted history with his 21st assist of the season to erase the previous record held by Gunners legend Thierry Henry and City maestro Kevin De Bruyne, in a season which saw him win the Football Writers and PL Player of the Season awards.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and Arne Slot’s Liverpool finished fourth and fifth respectively to secure their berths in the UEFA Champions League, while Bournemouth and Sunderland finished in the UEFA Europa League spots with sixth and seventh place finishes.
Brighton finished eighth to earn their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs despite their hammering at the hands of United.
Tottenham were saved the embarrassment of a relegation with their 1-0 win over Everton as they rendered West Ham’s 2-0 triumph at home over Leeds a futile attempt to save their spot in the PL.
Brentford finishes ninth with the 1-1 stalemate against Liverpool, and were followed by Chelsea, who finished 10th in the table on the back of their 1-2 defeat to Sunderland.
Fulham beat Newcastle 2-1 to come in 11th ahead of the Toon Army, the Toffees came in 13th, with the Leeds in 14. Wolves and Burnley, who had already been relegated finished off with a 1-1 draw.
