HDFC Bank has appointed Anoop Bagchi as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). After getting approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the bank has given this information in its stock exchange filing on October 1.

Bagchi will take charge from October 27. The tenure of current MD and CEO Shashidhar Jagadishan is ending on October 26. Jagadeesan did not seek re-appointment for the next term.

Kayzad Bharucha’s name was also included in the race

Earlier in media reports it was said that the bank had sent proposals of two names for the top post. The first name among these was that of Anoop Bagchi, who is the MD and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. The second name was that of Quaid Bharucha, who is the Deputy MD of HDFC Bank.

Earlier on October 1, Kotak Mahindra Bank has appointed Anup Kumar Saha as its new MD and CEO.
