“A Landmark Moment” For Orlando
Club owner Mark Wilf didn’t hold back in outlining the significance of the deal.
“Bringing Antoine to Orlando is a landmark moment not only for our club, but for our city, our supporters and for Major League Soccer,” he said.
Griezmann has signed through the 2027–28 season, with an option for an additional year, and will occupy a Designated Player slot.
French Legend, Global Pedigree
A key figure in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph alongside Hugo Lloris, Griezmann also played a major role in their run to the 2022 final, where they fell to Argentina, who were led by Lionel Messi.
At club level, he leaves Atlético as their all-time leading scorer, racking up 211 goals and 97 assists in 488 appearances.
Add in spells with FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad, and you get one of the most complete forwards of his generation.
“A Complete Footballer”
Sporting director Ricardo Moreira summed it up best:
“Antoine is a complete footballer – creative, intelligent, clinical – and he is a proven winner on the biggest stages of the game.”
The move continues Orlando’s tradition of marquee signings, following the likes of Kaka and Nani.
He’ll now form part of a potent attacking core alongside Marco Pasalic and Martin Ojeda, as the club looks to build on six straight playoff appearances.
