Al Falah University in Dhouj, Haryana, has come under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as part of the ongoing probe into the November 10 Delhi blast near the Red Fort that claimed 13 lives and left several injured.
A show-cause notice has also been issued to the University, which has emerged as the epicentre of the terror module. The University is neither accredited nor has applied for accreditation.
Meanwhile, the website of the University has also been taken down.
According to the details, the Enforcement Directorate will probe the University’s financial transactions to trace any possible links to terror funding or financial irregularities connected to the explosions.
Investigators are expected to focus on funds routed through the institution and any suspicious monetary exchanges involving individuals already under investigation in the case.
Other central and state agencies are also coordinating with the ED to examine whether the university’s accounts or associated entities were used to channel money for the planning or execution of the attack.
This comes hours after investigators discovered a red Maruti Brezza registered in the name of Dr Shaheen Saeed, an arrested suspect in the case, from the premises of Al Falah University.
The recovery has further intensified scrutiny of the institution and its financial dealings.
Meanwhile, the University on Wednesday said it has only a professional association with the two of its doctors arrested in connection with the incident and is anguished by the unfortunate developments.
While distancing itself from the terror-linked doctors, the University, in a statement, asserted that it is a responsible institution and stands in solidarity with the nation.
“We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events,” a statement issued by University Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand said.
“We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the investigating agencies. We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University,” the statement read.
Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed, both connected to Al-Falah University, were arrested in connection with the Delhi blast on Monday that left 12 people dead.
Dr Ganaie, who was arrested on October 30, was a teacher at Al-Falah University. Notably, 2,900 kg of explosives and inflammable material were recovered from two rented rooms of the doctor here. The rooms were not part of the university complex and were rented outside.
