Air India reduces fuel surcharge on international flights: Tickets to North America and Europe will be cheaper by up to ₹7,617; No changes in domestic flights

Tata Group’s aviation company Air India has announced to reduce fuel surcharge on its flights to North America, Australia, Europe and UK. According to sources, the airline has taken this step after the fall in crude oil prices, which will reduce the burden on the pockets of passengers traveling by international air on these routes. The new rates have become effective from July 1. However, no changes have been made on domestic flights. The biggest expense for airlines is jet fuel. Due to rising prices of jet fuel, airlines around the world have not only increased ticket prices but have also withdrawn their future financial projections i.e. financial outlook. Jet fuel is the biggest expense for airlines. Its share in total operating expenses is 30% to 40%.
