About AFCAT

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Air Force to select officers for its Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

Through AFCAT, the IAF recruits young men and women as Commissioned Officers in various roles, including pilots, engineers, and administrative and logistics officers. The exam is usually held twice a year and is conducted in online mode.

AFCAT tests candidates on four broad areas — General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning and Military Aptitude. Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for further stages of selection, which include the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview, medical examination, and final merit listing.

Successful candidates are trained at Air Force training academies and are commissioned as officers in the Indian Air Force.
