Trump and Putin held a 3-hour meeting on different issues including Ukraine Jung in Alaska.
The US itself is trying to make an energy deal with Russia, which has imposed 25% extra tariffs due to purchasing Russian oil on India. According to the Reuters News Agency, the deal was held between Trump and Putin during the meeting in Alaska on August 15.
American company Exone Mobil had talked about re-involving Russia’s Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project and selling American equipment to Russia.
After the Russian attack on Ukraine in 2022, the US imposed several restrictions on Russia’s energy sector, which stopped receiving foreign investment to Russia. Now American officials are considering lifting some restrictions to persuade Russia for peace. Apart from this, the US is also thinking of buying nuclear energy -breaking ice -breaking ships from Russia.

Reuters quoted the source as saying that the White House wanted to announce a big investment deal after the Alaska Conference on August 15. Trump felt that it would be his victory, but no major agreement could be reached even after the 3 -hour meeting.
Earlier on August 6, American Special Representative Steve Witchoff spoke on the issue with President Putin and Russian Investment Representative Kiril Dimitriyav during a visit to Moscow. President Trump was aware of its conversation.

America itself is trading Russia itself
The US alleges that Putin is getting help in continuing the Ukraine war due to purchasing Russian oil. Trump said earlier this month that India is buying cheaper oil from Russia and selling it with profits in the open market. India does not care about how many people are being killed in Ukraine due to Russia’s attack.
In response, India reminded America that after the commencement of Ukraine War, India had to buy oil from Russia, as its old oil suppliers started supplying to Europe. At that time, America had encouraged India to do so.
India said that in 2024, the European Union traded about 85 billion euros (₹ 7.65 lakh crore) with Russia. Similarly, the US is importing uranium hexaphloride from Russia for its nuclear industry, paladium, fertilizer and chemical for electric vehicle industry.
