The Supreme Court has rebuked Rahul Gandhi over his claim that Chinese occupied Indian territory and said that “if you were a true Indian, you would not say all this”.

“If you were a true Indian, you would not say this”, the Supreme Court said on Monday while rebuking Rahul Gandhi over his claim that the Chinese occupied Indian territory.
The top court’s tough remarks came while stauing proceedings in a criminal defamation case against the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition over his remarks about the Indian Army in the context of the 2020 Galwan valley clash with the Chinese soldiers.
Supreme Court’s Strong Remarks On Rahul Gandhi
Though the bench of Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice AG Masih granted an interim relief to Rahul Gandhi, the judges made strong oral remarks expressing disapproval of the Congress leader’s remarks, Live Law reported.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared for Rahul Gandhi, submitted that if an Opposition leader cannot raise issues, it would be an unfortunate situation.
“If he can’t say these things which are published in the Press, he can’t be a leader of opposition,” Live Law quoted him as saying.
To this, Justice Datta questioned why Rahul Gandhi had to raise these issues on social media and not in the Parliament.
“Whatever you have to say, why don’t you say in the Parliament? Why do you have to say this in the social media posts?” he asked.
