After the explosion, the sky of Idlib covered with a cloud of smoke.
2 people have been killed and 71 were injured due to an explosion at a ammunition depot on Thursday in Syria’s northwest city of Idlib. The counting of the victims is still going on.
Local people told the media that the explosion took place in Marat Misrin town to the north of Idlib. The Emergency team has also confirmed this.
Many people are still trapped in the debris, the rescue team is engaged in rescue work. The reason for the explosion has not yet been ascertained.
At the same time, some media reports have estimated that the blast is due to Israeli Aircrafts.
Idlib is special from military and business perspective
Idlib is in the northwest of Syria. It is surrounded by Hama, Aleppo and Latakia states. Idlib, Aleppo and Damascus are located on the road connecting, due to which it is special from military and business perspective.
About 45 lakh people live in Idlib, out of which 19 lakhs live in Refugee Camps. The area lacks poverty and basic facilities due to the Civil War and the 2023 earthquake.
Idlib has been struggling with internal disturbance for a long time. Last year, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and his colleague in the rebellious faction had removed the government of the then Syrian Bashar al-Assad and captured the city.
