Indians can now travel to 59 countries without a visa. This information came to light in the Henley Passport Index released on Tuesday. India has secured 77th position in the global passport rankings.
This change in India’s ranking has come in the last 6 months. This ranking is fixed based on the number of their visa-free travel to passports across the world.
Singapore tops the world’s most powerful passport. Singapore’s passport facilitates visa-free travel in 193 countries. Japan and South Korea are second with 190 countries.
The third place is Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain jointly, whose citizens can travel visa-free in 189 countries.

Improvement in India’s situation from last year
In the ranking of 2025, Indian passport has recorded a second consecutive improvement. Last year, India was ranked 85th, and this time climbing 8 places to 77th position.
However, the number of visa-free travel has decreased. In 2024, Indian passport holders could travel without visa in 62 countries, while this year the number is 59.
Nevertheless, the reason for improvement in ranking is better performance than passports of other countries. Indian passport holders can now travel without visas in 19 African countries, 19 Asian countries, 10 North American countries, 10 Ocenia countries and 1 South American country.
