A female student from Sathaye College in Mumbai passed away after jumping from the third floor of the institute on Thursday morning, according to a police official.
Sandhya Pathak, 21, was in her third year at the college in Vile Parle (East). She lived in Nalasopara, on the outskirts of Mumbai.
Pathak sustained severe injuries from the fall and was taken to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, the official stated.
No suicide note was found, and the police are investigating the reasons behind her actions.
An inquiry is ongoing, and an accidental death report has been filed for now, the official added.
“We have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in connection with the matter. We are not sure if it was a case of suicide or she slipped from the third floor of the building. We are yet to find any suicide note from the incident site,” a senior officer said.
