Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi is set to miss the Italian side’s opening fixture at the 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup after the 32-year-old was stranded in Tehran amid the conflict between Israel and Iran.
Taremi, who netted in Iran’s 3-0 win over North Korea in the World Cup qualifier between the sides last week, couldn’t get a flight out of Iran to join his Inter teammates in the United States of America.

Taremi remained in Iran for a few days longer compared to the rest of the Inter internationals in order to attend an Iranian award ceremony. The forward was presented with the ‘Toopa Award’, the first edition of the Iranian Golden Ball, at the gala.

Inter will look to turn the page on their disappointing UEFA Champions League Finals outing, in which they were hammered 5-0 by the champions PSG, at the 32-team group and knock out event in North America.
