Navy Day is celebrated every year in Russia on the last Sunday of July

Indian naval personnel took part in Russia’s 328th Navy Day parade on 28 July. On this occasion, Russian President Vladimir Putin took salute from Indian naval personnel. On behalf of India, warship INS Tabar participated in the Navy Day parade.

While taking the salute of the parade, Putin said to the Indian sailors – Namaskar sailors, congratulations to you on taking part in the Navy Day parade. Captain M.R. Harish was commanding the warship INS Tabar for the parade.

More than 200 ships took part in the parade
Nearly 200 ships took part in the 328th Navy Day being celebrated in St. Petersburg. All of them will be part of the Navy till 2024. During this time more than 15 thousand soldiers were also present. After the parade is over, music concerts, army bands and fireworks will be organized at St. Petersburg and the Russian Naval Base.

Before reaching Russia, INS Tabar reached Germany on 17 July. Where it stayed at Hamburg Port for 3 days. Where the Indian sailors had an official meeting with the German Navy. Along with this, the common citizens were also given a chance to see the Indian warship.

INS Tabar was commissioned from Kaliningrad, Russia under the command of Captain Mahesh Mangipuri.

INS Tabar joined the Navy in 2004
INS Tabar is an advanced Talwar class warship. It has been developed from the Krivak III warship purchased by India from Russia in 1997. It was designed by the Baltic Shipyard. It was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2004.

INS Tabar has a top speed of 30 knots (55km/h). It is designed to deal with vessels, submarines and air targets. According to Russia’s state news channel Russia TV, INS Tabar will participate in the INDRA-24 naval exercise with the Russian Navy.
