A video showing hundreds of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans leaping over metro station gates and bypassing the mandatory QR code or token entry system on the day of the Bengaluru stampede — which left 11 people dead — has surfaced online.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed that the video was recorded at the Majestic interchange during the RCB felicitation event on June 4.
The video shows people jumping over automated fare gates, completely bypassing the ticketing system. As trains were overcrowded, many commuters resorted to leaping over barriers to access or leave the platforms.
Around 1,000 people reportedly entered without paying the required fare, sparking criticism on social media over the lack of civic sense.
Netizens React To Viral Video
As the video surfaced on social media platforms, it sparked strong reactions from netizens, with many criticising RCB fans for their lack of civic sense.
“After seeing this, don’t blame management or the government. People should have civic sense,” one user said on Instagram.
“I’m from Karnataka, and I feel so sorry after seeing people lacking civic sense. People do not want to pay Rs 20 or Rs 40 metro fare, jumping and damaging the station. People who are seen jumping in this footage must be punished,” wrote a second person.
“RCB fans seem to disregard fundamental values like civic sense and public responsibility,” a third user remarked.
“How much can a crowd be controlled when people lack basic civic sense,” another user said.
A person, however, attempted to explain the chaos: “The people had entered the platform, but trains were cancelled for two hours, and they were unable to get out. So, the person making the video was asking the security to open the gates and keep it that way.”

To manage the overwhelming rush caused by the RCB felicitation event, BMRCL announced that trains would temporarily bypass certain stations for a few hours.

Tragically, a stampede outside the Bengaluru stadium led to the deaths of 11 people and left nearly 50 others injured.
In response, the Bengaluru Police filed an FIR against the RCB franchise, event organiser DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), citing charges including culpable homicide and unlawful assembly.
